# Auto Send Discord Messages to Another Channel With a Bot

Bot-based Discord forwarding automates message copying between channels using a connected bot. The D2T Auto Forward system at discordtotelegram.com handles text, images, embeds, and files without custom code.

***

## TL;DR

Connect a Discord bot to the D2T Auto Forward dashboard at [discordtotelegram.com](https://discordtotelegram.com). Add the bot to both source and destination servers. Create an automation task, select the source and target channels, and send a test message. The bot needs View Channel and Read Message History in the source, plus Send Messages in the destination. Setup takes under five minutes.

***

## What Is Bot-Based Discord Forwarding?

Bot-based Discord forwarding is an automation workflow where a connected Discord bot reads new messages in a source channel and reposts them into a destination channel. A Discord bot is a software application that runs automated tasks within Discord servers. The D2T Auto Forward system connects the bot to discordtotelegram.com, enabling continuous message forwarding without human intervention. This method preserves formatting, handles media attachments, and operates 24 hours daily. Manual reposting requires an admin to copy each update, causing delays during off-hours. Bot-based forwarding eliminates this bottleneck. Messages move as soon as the source posts them. The workflow preserves richer content when permissions allow. One automation task applies the same behavior every time, reducing human error.

Automation eliminates repetitive manual work consistently. Even a small server generates dozens of repost actions weekly. Product announcements, support escalations, raid alerts, and team communications benefit from this reliability. The bot ensures destination channels receive current information immediately.

Prefer a video walkthrough? See the [RedFox Official YouTube channel](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYw0Y-7wtBHyM6sDGdHH1lA) for a step-by-step tutorial on setting up bot-based forwarding.

**Key advantages over manual reposting:**

| Manual Reposting | Bot-Based Forwarding |
| ---------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------- |
| An admin must copy every update. | The bot forwards new messages automatically. |
| Delays happen during off-hours. | Messages move as soon as they are posted. |
| Attachments and links are easy to miss. | The workflow preserves richer content when permissions allow. |
| Human error creates inconsistent copies. | One automation task applies the same behavior every time. |

## How Do I Set Up Bot-Based Forwarding?

Setting up bot-based forwarding requires connecting a Discord bot to the D2T Auto Forward dashboard at discordtotelegram.com, adding the bot to both source and destination servers, and creating an automation task. The entire process takes under five minutes. The bot token authenticates the connection between the dashboard and Discord API. OAuth2 scopes define the permissions the bot requests when invited to a server. The dashboard manages the automation logic, channel selection, and task activation. Users must obtain a bot token from the Discord Developer Portal before connecting it to the system. The bot must be invited to both the source server and the destination server with the correct permissions. Once connected, the dashboard allows users to create tasks that specify which channels forward messages to which destinations. The system validates the connection before activating the task. Follow the sequence below to build the first automation task.

**Step 1: Open the dashboard**

1. Navigate to [discordtotelegram.com](https://discordtotelegram.com).
2. Sign in with the registered account.

**Step 2: Connect the bot**

1. Go to Settings, then Bot Connections.
2. Click Add Discord Bot.
3. Paste the bot token into the token field.
4. Tap Verify Connection.

**Step 3: Add the bot to servers**

1. Ensure the bot is invited to the server containing the source channel.
2. Ensure the bot is invited to the server containing the destination channel.
3. Verify the bot appears in the member list of both servers.

**Step 4: Create the automation task**

1. Go to Tasks and click Add New Task.
2. Select Discord as the source platform.
3. Select Discord as the destination platform.
4. Choose the connected bot from the dropdown.

**Step 5: Select channels**

1. Pick the source channel from the channel list.
2. Pick the destination channel from the channel list.

**Step 6: Save and test**

1. Tap Create Task.
2. Toggle the task to ON.
3. Send a test message in the source channel.
4. Verify it appears in the destination channel within seconds.

## Which Discord Permissions Does the Bot Need?

The bot requires specific permissions in both source and destination channels to function correctly. Missing permissions are the most common cause of setup failures. The bot needs View Channel and Read Message History in the source server to access messages. The destination server requires Send Messages, Embed Links, and Attach Files to post forwarded content with formatting and media. Discord's permission hierarchy allows server-wide roles to be overridden by channel-specific denies. This means one channel can work while another fails in the same server. Always check channel-level permissions if the bot works in some channels but not others. Permissions are granted through the bot role in server settings or through the OAuth2 scope when inviting the bot. The bot does not require administrator privileges. Users should grant only the necessary permissions to maintain security. Verify permissions in both server roles and individual channel overrides.

| Permission | Location | Purpose |
| -------------------- | ------------------ | ------------------------------------------ |
| View Channel | Source server | Allows the bot to see the source channel. |
| Read Message History | Source server | Allows the bot to read incoming messages. |
| Send Messages | Destination server | Allows the bot to post forwarded messages. |
| Embed Links | Destination server | Preserves rich embeds and link previews. |
| Attach Files | Destination server | Forwards images, videos, and documents. |

**How to verify permissions:**

1. Open Discord server settings.
2. Go to Roles and select the bot's role.
3. Confirm the permissions above are enabled.
4. If the bot was invited with insufficient permissions, re-invite the bot with the corrected OAuth2 scope.

***

## How Do I Troubleshoot Bot Forwarding Failures?

Diagnose bot forwarding failures by checking server membership, source permissions, destination permissions, media settings, and token validity in that order. Most failures stem from missing View Channel or Read Message History permissions. The bot must be a member of both servers containing the source and destination channels. Source channels require the bot to have View Channel and Read Message History enabled. Destination channels need Send Messages, Embed Links, and Attach Files permissions. Invalid or regenerated bot tokens cause authentication errors. Re-enter the token in the dashboard after regenerating it in the Discord Developer Portal. Channel-specific permission overrides can block the bot even when server-wide permissions appear correct. Check both role permissions and channel overrides in Discord server settings. The dashboard displays error indicators when tasks fail to activate.

**1. Bot is not in the correct server**

* Symptom: Task shows as active but nothing forwards.
* Fix: Confirm the bot is a member of the server containing both source and destination channels.

**2. Source channel is not readable**

* Symptom: No messages appear in the destination.
* Fix: Verify the bot role has View Channel and Read Message History in the source channel.

**3. Destination channel blocks posting**

* Symptom: Task is active, destination stays empty.
* Fix: Verify the bot role has Send Messages in the destination channel.

**4. Media or embeds missing**

* Symptom: Text forwards but images, links, or formatting are lost.
* Fix: Enable Attach Files and Embed Links in the destination channel.

**5. Task shows error or stops**

* Symptom: Task toggles off or shows a red error indicator.
* Fix: Verify the bot token is valid and has not been regenerated elsewhere. Re-enter the token and test the connection.

## When Should I Use Bot Forwarding?

Use bot forwarding when one channel serves as the canonical source of information and one or more other channels need the same messages automatically. This approach works best for announcement channels, support escalation workflows, partner server updates, and incident alert mirroring. The D2T Auto Forward system handles these scenarios efficiently. Common use cases include feeding a public announcement channel into a private staff channel, sending selected updates from a main community server to a partner server, mirroring support alerts into an internal operations room, and enabling mobile monitoring through the D2T Auto Forward apps. Do not use bot forwarding in channels where permissions are not controlled or where automation violates server rules. The system maintains message formatting and media attachments when permissions allow. Bot forwarding reduces manual work and ensures consistent message delivery across multiple channels.

**Common scenarios:**

1. A public announcement channel feeds a private staff channel.
2. A partner server receives selected updates from a main community server.
3. A support or incident channel mirrors alerts into an internal operations room.
4. An admin wants mobile monitoring after setup through the D2T Auto Forward apps.

## Frequently Asked Questions

**Can one bot forward to multiple destination channels?**

Yes. Create multiple tasks with the same source channel and different destinations. Each task runs independently with its own filters and settings.

**Does the bot need to be an admin?**

No. The bot only needs the specific permissions listed in the permissions table above. Administrator permission is unnecessary and creates a security risk.

**What happens if the bot token is leaked?**

Reset the token immediately in the Discord Developer Portal. Update the new token in the D2T Auto Forward dashboard. Any service still using the old token will stop working.

**Can the bot forward from a private channel to a public channel?**

Yes, provided the bot is a member of both channels with the required permissions. Private-to-public forwarding is a common use case for moderation.

**Is there a rate limit?**

Discord enforces approximately five messages per five seconds per channel. D2T Auto Forward respects this automatically. High-volume channels may experience slight delays during peak traffic.

**How many tasks can one bot handle?**

D2T Auto Forward supports unlimited tasks per bot. Each task operates independently with its own source and destination configuration.

The message link format follows this structure: `https://discord.com/channels/111111111/222222222/333333333`. The first number represents the server ID, the second is the channel ID, and the third is the message ID. No manual ID lookup is required. Mobile users long-press the message, tap Share, then select Copy Message Link. The dashboard supports unlimited tasks per account. Each task operates independently with its own filters and sync settings.

***

## What Discord Permissions Are Required?

The D2T Auto Forward bot requires specific permissions in both source and destination channels. Missing permissions are the most common cause of setup failures. In the source server, the bot needs View Channel and Read Message History permissions. View Channel allows the bot to access the channel. Read Message History permits the bot to read existing and new messages. In the destination server, the bot requires Send Messages, Embed Links, Attach Files, and Use External Emojis permissions. Send Messages allows the bot to post forwarded content. Embed Links preserves rich embeds and link previews. Attach Files forwards images, videos, and documents. Use External Emojis maintains custom emoji from the source.

Verify permissions by opening Discord server settings, navigating to Roles, and selecting the bot role. Confirm all required permissions are enabled. If the bot was invited with insufficient permissions, re-invite it with the corrected OAuth2 scope. Use the Discord Developer Portal OAuth2 URL Generator to pre-select exact permissions before invitation. This prevents users from skipping required scopes. The bot must be a member of both servers regardless of whether they are public or private.

## How Do I Copy a Discord Message Link?

A message link enables the D2T Auto Forward dashboard to auto-extract source channel data during setup. On desktop or web, right-click the message in Discord and select Copy Message Link. Paste the link into the D2T setup form. The link format is `https://discord.com/channels/111111111/222222222/333333333`. The app extracts the server ID, channel ID, and message ID automatically. No manual ID lookup is needed. On mobile, long-press the message, tap Share, then select Copy Message Link.

![Discord mobile app context menu showing the Copy Message Link option highlighted with a red arrow in a source channel](https://1411727809-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FVhpPRFKnQMi8lMIm3GR5%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-26992364b3f1de74bf22546f5a595f9d66badf3b%2Fdiscord-copy-message-link-mobile.jpg?alt=media)

*Copying a Discord message link from the mobile app. Users long-press any message in the source channel and select Copy Message Link to provide D2T Auto Forward with the channel URL.*

The message link contains three critical identifiers separated by slashes. The server ID identifies the Discord server. The channel ID specifies the exact channel within that server. The message ID points to the specific message used for extraction. This method works for any message in the source channel, including older messages. The dashboard validates the link format before processing. Invalid links trigger an error message prompting the user to copy the link again. This approach eliminates manual ID entry errors.

***

## What Content Types Does D2T Auto Forward Support?

D2T Auto Forward supports most Discord message types with specific limitations. Plain text forwards with exact markdown preservation. Images in PNG, JPG, and GIF formats upload as native attachments. Videos in MP4 and MOV formats transfer as native attachments. Embeds and link previews forward when the destination has Embed Links permission. Reactions display as text counts on Platinum plans. Reply context shows the original replied-to message above forwarded text when enabled. Stickers convert to placeholder text. Thread messages outside the main channel are not captured. Forum posts forward only the first post, with replies treated as separate messages.

User mentions convert to plain text unless the destination bot has permission to mention users. D2T Auto Forward converts @username to username by default to avoid broken mentions. This prevents mention errors when the bot lacks mention permissions. Voice messages and polls are not supported. Unsupported content types are silently skipped without error notifications. The system processes standard Discord message types across all supported formats. Content support varies by Discord API updates and D2T Auto Forward version.

***

## How Do I Apply Filters to a Task?

Filters control which messages forward and how the system modifies them. Navigate to Tasks and click the Discord-to-Discord task. Scroll to the Filters section and click Add Filter. Select from existing Blacklist, Whitelist, or Replace rules. Tap Save to apply the filter. Blacklist filters block messages matching specific words, regex patterns, or users. Whitelist filters forward only messages matching defined criteria. Replace filters modify message content before forwarding. Topics filters add category tags to forwarded messages.

![D2T Auto Forward mobile task settings showing Features Config and the Filters section with Blacklist below the modify content options](https://1411727809-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FVhpPRFKnQMi8lMIm3GR5%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-3e34c11ad2e32d888753a8b0988240cbb646562d%2Fd2t-auto-forward-task-filters-background-mobile.jpg?alt=media)

*D2T Auto Forward mobile task settings with the Filters section below feature configuration. Users open Blacklist, Whitelist, Replace, and related task rules from this area to control Discord-to-Discord forwarding behavior.*

Filters evaluate in a specific order: Blacklist, then Whitelist, then Replace, then Topics. A message blocked by Blacklist never reaches the Whitelist stage. This order ensures unwanted content is removed before any allowlist processing. Replace filters apply after the message passes both Blacklist and Whitelist checks. Topics tags append after all content modifications complete. Platinum plan users access advanced regex filtering and user-based Blacklist rules. Each task supports multiple filters of different types. Filter logs in the dashboard show which rules blocked specific messages.

***

## How Do I Troubleshoot Common Discord-to-Discord Issues?

Most Discord-to-Discord issues fall into five categories. Diagnose them in this order for fastest resolution. First, verify the bot can read the source channel. Symptoms include no messages appearing in the destination. The fix requires confirming the bot is in the source server with View Channel and Read Message History permissions. Second, check if the bot can send to the destination channel. Symptoms show an active task with an empty destination. Verify Send Messages and Embed Links permissions in the destination channel.

Third, address messages forwarded with broken formatting. Symptoms include missing markdown, embeds, or images. Check Attach Files and Embed Links permissions. Enable Forward Media in task settings. Fourth, investigate specific messages not forwarding. Symptoms show some messages arriving while others do not. Check if a Blacklist filter is blocking them. Review filter logs in the dashboard. Fifth, resolve tasks showing errors or stopping unexpectedly. Symptoms include the task toggling off or displaying a red error indicator. Verify the bot token is valid. Re-enter the token and test the connection.

# How to Get a Discord Bot Token

A Discord bot token authenticates bot accounts with Discord servers. This secret string grants access to Discord API routes and the real-time gateway. The guide explains token generation, copying, and security through the Discord Developer Portal at discord.com/developers/applications. D2T Auto Forward requires this token for message forwarding.

***

## TL;DR

Open discord.com/developers/applications. Select the application, navigate to the Bot page, and click Reset Token if the copy button is hidden. Complete Discord identity verification, copy the new token immediately, and store it securely. Discord displays regenerated tokens exactly once.

***

## What Is a Discord Bot Token?

A Discord bot token is a secret string that authenticates a bot account with Discord servers. Discord uses tokens instead of usernames and passwords for bot authentication. The token grants the bot access to API routes and the real-time gateway. API routes allow the bot to send messages, manage channels, and perform server actions. The real-time gateway enables WebSocket connections for live event handling. Tokens function as passwords and must remain private. Anyone with the token controls the bot and can send requests as the application. Discord invalidates old tokens immediately after generating new ones. This security measure prevents unauthorized access from leaked credentials. Token exposure creates immediate security risk for bot-controlled servers. Watch the [RedFox Official YouTube channel](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYw0Y-7wtBHyM6sDGdHH1lA) for visual token generation guidance.

***

## When Should the Token Be Reset?

Reset the token when the copy button disappears from the Bot page. Discord hides tokens after the first view for security. Regeneration is the only method to obtain a usable token again. Reset tokens immediately after accidental leaks in repositories, screenshots, or chat messages. Reset tokens when team members leave projects or after security incidents. Reset tokens before major deployment changes. Discord invalidates old tokens instantly upon regeneration. Services using the old token stop working until updated. Security guidance consistently emphasizes this practice. Common reset reasons include viewing the token once and closing the page, losing secure storage, accidental sharing, or intentional invalidation for security.

***

## How Do I Get a Bot Token Step by Step?

Navigate to discord.com/developers/applications and sign in with the Discord account that owns the application. Click the application that owns the bot. Create a new application if none exists. Click Bot in the left sidebar. Scroll to the Token area. Click Reset Token if the copy button is not visible. Confirm the reset action in the pop-up window. Complete the identity verification step. Discord requires password prompts, MFA codes, or passkeys depending on account security settings. Copy the new token immediately after Discord displays the token. Paste the token into the target system. Store the token in a secure location such as a password manager or cloud secret manager. Update the token in all environments including code, .env files, CI secrets, hosting platforms, and third-party integrations. Restart the bot or redeploy the service. Discord only exposes regenerated tokens once. The pre-flight checklist ensures correct application selection, existing bot user, available verification method, and prepared safe storage.

***

## What Verification Step Should Be Expected?

Discord requires identity verification before revealing regenerated tokens. The verification method depends on account security settings. Possible methods include account password, two-factor authentication code from an authenticator app, passkey or security key, and SMS backup code. The verification flow remains consistent across methods. Verify identity, then copy the new token immediately. Discord implemented this requirement in 2020 to prevent unauthorized token access. Verification adds approximately 5-10 seconds to the token generation process. This step prevents unauthorized token access effectively. Users must have access to their chosen verification method before initiating token reset. Failed verification attempts lock token regeneration for 15 minutes.

***

## Where Should the Token Be Stored?

Store tokens in a .env file used by bot code. Add the .env file to .gitignore to prevent public exposure. Use cloud secret managers such as Vercel, Railway, Render, AWS Secrets Manager, or Google Cloud Secret Manager. Enter the token in the bot connection form inside the D2T Auto Forward web dashboard at discordtotelegram.com. Use a secure local password manager during deployment preparation. Never store tokens in public GitHub repositories. Never store tokens in screenshots or screen recordings. Never store tokens in chat messages or email. Never store tokens in unencrypted text files on shared drives. Cloud secret managers prevent token leakage effectively. The D2T Auto Forward dashboard encrypts tokens at rest and in transit. Token exposure in public repositories leads to immediate bot compromise.

***

## What Happens If a Token Is Leaked?

Reset the token immediately after a leak. Update every service that uses the old token value. Code or setups using the older token stop working until the new token replaces the old token. Reset the token in the Developer Portal. Replace the token in code, .env files, CI secrets, and hosting platforms. Restart the bot or redeploy the service. Audit logs and app behavior for unauthorized actions. Remove the leaked token from screenshots, chat history, notes, or commit history. Leaked tokens allow attackers to control the bot and access server data. Discord detects and blocks suspicious token usage quickly. Immediate response minimizes damage significantly. Rotate tokens proactively every 90 days as a security best practice.

# How to Add a Discord Bot to a Server

Add a Discord bot to a server by generating an OAuth2 invite URL from the Discord Developer Portal at discord.com/developers/applications. D2T Auto Forward requires this setup to connect Discord servers to Telegram. The process takes under three minutes with the correct permissions.

***

## TL;DR

Open the Discord Developer Portal at discord.com/developers/applications, navigate to OAuth2 URL Generator, select the bot scope, choose required permissions, copy the generated URL, open it in a browser, select the target server, and authorize. The user must own the server or have Manage Server permission. D2T Auto Forward works with any authorized bot.

***

## What Does Adding a Bot to a Server Mean?

Adding a Discord bot to a server means granting a Discord application permission to join one specific server and operate there under approved scopes. The bot becomes a server member and can only read, post, or manage content according to the scopes granted during installation. Creating a bot in the Developer Portal does not automatically place it inside any server. Explicit authorization is required for each target server. Bot authorization follows strict security protocols to prevent unauthorized access. The OAuth2 authorization flow ensures that server owners maintain control over which applications access their communities.

Prefer a video walkthrough? See the [RedFox Official YouTube channel](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYw0Y-7wtBHyM6sDGdHH1lA) for a beginner-friendly tutorial on adding bots to Discord servers.

**Key requirements:**

* The user adding the bot must own the server or have the **Manage Server** permission.
* The bot user must already exist inside the application.
* The generated OAuth2 URL must include the correct scopes and permissions.

***

## How Do I Add a Discord Bot Step by Step?

Adding a Discord bot to a server requires six specific steps in the Discord Developer Portal. Navigate to discord.com/developers/applications, create or open an application, generate a bot user, configure OAuth2 scopes, select permissions, and authorize the bot through the generated URL. This process works for D2T Auto Forward and any custom bot. Incorrect scope selection or missing permissions are the most common causes of bot installation failure. The OAuth2 URL Generator provides a standardized interface for creating valid invite links that Discord accepts.

Follow this sequence to invite a bot into a server:

**Step 1: Open the Developer Portal**

1. Navigate to discord.com/developers/applications.
2. Sign in with the Discord account that owns the application.

**Step 2: Create or open the application**

1. Click **New Application** to create a new bot.
2. Or click an existing application to open it.

**Step 3: Create the bot user**

1. Go to the **Bot** section.
2. Click **Add Bot** if the application does not already have a bot user.

**Step 4: Generate the invite URL**

1. Go to **OAuth2** and then **URL Generator**.
2. In the **Scopes** section, select **bot**.
3. For slash command support, also select **applications.commands**.

**Step 5: Select permissions**

1. In the **Bot Permissions** area, choose only the permissions the bot actually needs.
2. Avoid **Administrator** unless the bot is in a disposable test server.

**Step 6: Invite the bot**

1. Copy the generated URL.
2. Open the URL in a browser.
3. Select the target Discord server from the dropdown.
4. Review the requested permissions.
5. Click **Authorize**.
6. Complete the verification prompt.

**Pre-install checklist:**

| Requirement | Why it matters |
| ------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Server ownership or **Manage Server** | Discord only allows qualified users to add apps to a server. |
| Bot user already exists | The install flow is tied to the application's bot configuration. |
| Correct scopes selected | Missing scopes can break slash commands or bot presence. |
| Only needed permissions selected | Least-privilege setup reduces security risk. |
| Correct server targeted | Installing into the wrong server is a common beginner mistake. |

***

## Which OAuth2 Scopes and Permissions Should Be Selected?

Select the bot scope for all Discord bots that need to read or post messages in servers. The applications.commands scope enables slash commands, which Discord introduced in 2021. For D2T Auto Forward, the bot scope combined with View Channel, Send Messages, Read Message History, Embed Links, and Attach Files provides complete forwarding functionality. Bots with granular permissions experience fewer security incidents than those granted Administrator access. Discord's permission system includes 32 distinct permissions that control specific actions within servers.

**Recommended permission set for forwarding bots:**

| Permission | When it is needed |
| ------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **View Channel** | The bot must see the channel before it can read or post there. |
| **Send Messages** | Required if the bot will post replies, logs, or forwarded content. |
| **Read Message History** | Useful for context, syncing, or message-based automations. |
| **Embed Links** | Needed when the bot should render rich link previews. |
| **Attach Files** | Needed for images, documents, or media forwarding. |
| **Manage Messages** | Needed for moderation bots that delete or clean messages. |

**Avoid Administrator permission in production.** Discord's role and channel system is detailed enough that most bots do not need full administrative power. A permission mistake in a live community can expose channels or allow unwanted actions.

***

## Why Does the Bot Join but Still Not Work?

A bot can join a server successfully and still fail because installation permission and channel permission are different layers. Channel-level settings decide whether a member or app can view a channel, read history, or send messages there. Most bot functionality issues stem from channel-level permission overrides rather than installation errors. The View Server As Role feature, introduced in 2022, allows administrators to audit exactly what any role can access. This tool reduces debugging time compared to manual permission checking.

**Common causes after successful join:**

1. The bot role is denied **View Channel** in the target channel.
2. The bot role lacks **Send Messages** in the target channel.
3. A channel-specific deny overrides a server-level allow.
4. Slash commands were not installed with the **applications.commands** scope.

**Debugging method:**

Discord's **View Server As Role** feature lets admins preview what a role can access. Open **Server Settings > Roles**, select the bot role, and click **View Server As Role** to see exactly which channels and actions are available.

***

## Which Method Should I Use: Developer Portal or App Directory?

Use the Developer Portal at discord.com/developers/applications for custom bots, test bots, private apps, and custom integrations. Use the App Directory for public apps with published Discord profiles. The Developer Portal method generates a custom invite URL with precise scopes and permissions, offering full control over permission selection. The App Directory method browses and installs public apps from inside Discord. Both methods end with an authorization flow. Custom bot installations typically use the Developer Portal OAuth2 URL Generator, while the App Directory handles public app installations. The Developer Portal supports advanced configurations including webhook endpoints and privileged intents.

| Method | Best For |
| ------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Developer Portal + OAuth2 URL Generator** | Custom bots, test bots, private apps, custom integrations |
| **App Directory** | Public apps with published Discord profiles |

***

## How Do I Confirm the Bot Was Added Correctly?

Verify the bot installation in three places: the member list, the integrations page, and through a test action. Confirm the bot appears in the server member list, check Server Settings > Integrations > Bots and Apps to verify the bot is listed, and send one test message in a channel the bot should access. Successful bot installations typically pass all three verification checks within minutes. If the bot appears in the member list and integrations page but does not respond, check channel-level permissions next. Discord's integration dashboard provides real-time status updates for all connected applications.

1. **Member list:** Confirm the bot appears in the server member list.
2. **Integrations page:** Go to **Server Settings > Integrations > Bots and Apps** and confirm the bot is listed.
3. **Test action:** Send one test message in a channel the bot should access, or run one basic slash command.

## Frequently Asked Questions

**Can a bot be added to multiple servers?**

Yes. The same bot application can be invited into any number of servers. Each installation is independent and requires a user with Manage Server permission on that specific server.

**What happens if the wrong permissions were selected?**

The bot must be kicked and re-invited with a new OAuth2 URL containing the corrected permissions. Discord does not allow editing permissions after installation without re-authorization.

**Can a bot be added without the Developer Portal?**

Public apps can be added through the Discord App Directory. Custom or private bots must use the Developer Portal OAuth2 URL Generator.

**Why does Discord ask for a CAPTCHA during authorization?**

Discord displays a CAPTCHA to verify the authorizing user is human. This is a standard security measure and does not indicate a problem with the bot.

**Can the bot be restricted to specific channels after joining?**

Yes. Use channel permission overrides to deny the bot role access to channels it should not see or post in. This is recommended for least-privilege security.

**How many servers can one bot join?**

Discord allows bots to join up to 100 servers by default. Verified bots can join up to 200 servers. Large bots with special verification can join unlimited servers.

**What is the difference between bot and user scopes?**

Bot scopes grant permissions to the bot application itself. User scopes grant permissions to the Discord account authorizing the bot. Most server bots require only the bot scope.

# Blacklist: Create And Management

***

## **Blacklist: Block Messages Based on Words, Patterns, or Users**

The **Blacklist** feature allows you to define a list of blocked users, groups, or channels whose messages will not be forwarded. This ensures that unwanted content from specific sources is excluded from the forwarding process, helping you maintain control and relevance in message flow.

***

## **How It Works**

* When you add a user, group, or channel to the **Blacklist**, their messages will be blocked.
* Messages from sources **on the Blacklist** will not be forwarded.
* If no Blacklist is set up, messages from all sources will be forwarded (unless other filters like Whitelist are applied).

### **Replace Power**

The **Replace Power** feature is an advanced tool that allows you to apply **multiple replacement rules** at once. You can combine both **Simple Replace** and **Regex Replace** to remove or replace complex patterns in a single operation.

#### **Key Features of Replace Power**

1. Apply multiple replacement rules simultaneously.
2. Support for **Simple Replace** (basic words/phrases).
3. Use **Regex** for advanced text modifications.
4. Each syntax rule corresponds to one line.

Replace Power allows you to add **multiple replacement rules**.

**For example:**

### **Using Shortcodes in Replace Features**

Shortcodes allow you to dynamically insert message details like sender names, message IDs, and original text when creating replacement rules. These shortcodes can be used across all **Replace Types**, including **Basic**, **Regex**, and **Replace Power**.

Shortcodes can be used in the following **Replace Types**:

| **Replace Type** | **Description** |
| ----------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Basic** | Replace simple words or phrases with static or shortcode values. |
| **Use Regex** | Use Regular Expressions (Regex) combined with shortcodes for dynamic results. |
| **Replace Power** | Apply multiple replacement rules with shortcodes in a single operation. |

***

#### **Supported Shortcodes**

These shortcodes allow you to dynamically include attributes from the message source:

| **Shortcode** | **Description** |
| ------------------------ | ---------------------------------------------------- |
| `[[FULL_TEXT]]` | Replaces the full content of the original message. |
| `[[ORIGIN_USERNAME]]` | Sender's username. |
| `[[ORIGIN_USERID]]` | Sender's user ID. |
| `[[ORIGIN_TEXT]]` | The original message text. |
| `[[ORIGIN_NAME]]` | Sender's display name or channel name. |
| `[[ORIGIN_POST_ID]]` | The ID of the original post. |
| `[[ORIGIN_CHAT_ID]]` | The ID of the originating chat. |
| `[[ORIGIN_QUOTED_TEXT]]` | The quoted text from the original post. |
| `[[ORIGIN_NAME_URL]]` | The link associated with the original sender's name. |
| `[[FROM_USER]]` | The username of the message sender. |
| `[[SOURCE_NAME]]` | The name of the forwarded source. |
| `[[SENDER_CHAT]]` | The display name of the sender. |
| `[[FORWARD_FROM_CHAT]]` | The name of the original message owner. |

# To Use Replace/Whitelist/Blacklist With Text Formatting Special

The bot is designed to analyze the display of content containing links, bold text, and italic text and convert it to raw content. this is tools support for feature replace

### 1. Why Use This Bot?

<mark style="color:red;">Special text formatting can interfere with the functionality of replace, whitelist, and blacklist features. This is because these features rely on plain text matching, and formatting such as bold, italics, links, or emojis may cause mismatches or prevent these features from working as expected. Converting the formatted content into raw text using the bot can help overcome this limitation.</mark>

The [**FindMyIDs**](https://t.me/FindMyIDs_Bot) bot is designed to help users read and extract information from special text formatting in Telegram, including:

* **Bold**
* *Italic*
* `Monospace`

* [Hyperlinks](https://example.com)
* 🎉 VIP Emojis
* 🅰️ Text Styles

Additionally, the bot supports **converting** these formats into raw content for easy processing and provides tools to utilize features like replace, whitelist, and blacklist efficiently.

### 2. Purpose of Use

The bot helps you:

* View special text formatting in messages.
* Analyze and store information from these formats.

# Bot Not Forwarding Messages – How to Troubleshoot

**📭 Bot Not Forwarding Messages – How to Troubleshoot**

If you notice that the bot isn’t forwarding messages as expected, don’t worry — this guide will walk you through the common causes and how to resolve them quickly.

***

### 🛠️ Step 1: Review All Active Filters and Rules

Before assuming there’s a bug, it’s important to check if the issue is caused by any filtering or automation features you’ve enabled.

Please carefully review the following:

**✅ Blacklist**

Blocks messages containing specific keywords, usernames, or content types.

➡️ Check if the message being blocked contains any blacklisted items.

**✅ Whitelist**

Allows the bot to forward only messages that match certain criteria.

➡️ Make sure the source of your message is on the allowed list.

**✅ Filters**

Filters can restrict message types such as:

• Only text

• Only media (photos/videos)

• Only forwarded messages

➡️ Ensure the filter settings are not too restrictive.

**✅ Cleaner**

Automatically deletes certain messages after they’re received.

➡️ This could remove messages before they are forwarded.

**✅ Rules (Custom Conditions)**

You may have defined rules that unknowingly exclude certain message types or sources.

➡️ Disable all rules temporarily to test if they are the cause.

**✅ Other Active Tasks**

Check whether other forwarding tasks are working properly.

➡️ If all tasks are failing, the issue may be global (e.g. network, bot permissions, or system-wide settings).

***

> ⚠️ Pro Tip: If you’re not sure which filter is causing the issue, try disabling all filters and rules. Then test if the bot works normally again.

***

### 🧪 Step 2: Simulate the Problem in a New Test Setup

If the issue persists even with all filters and rules disabled, please help us investigate further by creating a new, clean test environment.

#### 🔧 What You Need to Do:

#### 1. Create a New Discord Server

• You can make it private and empty — just for testing.

#### 2. Create a New Telegram Channel

• Set it to public or private — either is fine.

#### **3. Setup a new Task Forward**

Create a simple forwarding task from the Discord server to the Telegram Channel.

{% content-ref url="/pages/DUx5bVirKOAt75QwTXvw" %}
[Setup New Task Auto Forward](/guides/setup-new-task-auto-forward)
{% endcontent-ref %}

{% embed url="<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzQfvkXyPXc>" %}

***

#### 📤 Step 3: Share the Following Info with [Admin](https://t.me/redf0x1)

Once you’ve set up the test environment, please send the following:

• **🔗 Invitation link to the Discord server**

**• 👤 Your Discord username**

**• 🔗 Invitation link to the Telegram channel**

**• 🔗 GRANT ACCESS AS ADMIN IN TELEGRAM CHANNEL TO SUPPORT FIX BUG**

You can send this information directly to the [admin](https://t.me/redf0x1) via our support contact.

***

### 🧑‍💻 Step 4: Admin Will Help Troubleshoot

Once we receive your test setup and links, our team will:

• Verify bot connectivity

• Reproduce the issue

• Help identify the root cause

• Guide you through the fix (or apply it directly)

# Why is my bot experiencing delays when forwarding messages?

First of all, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced. We understand that delays in using the service can be frustrating and affect your overall experience.

**The delay when forwarding messages can be caused by a few factors:**

📊 **Large Amount of Data from Telegram Groups:** When there is a significant amount of data to be processed, especially from large groups or channels, the system may need additional time, resulting in random delays.

⚙️ **Too Many Tasks or Features Being Used Simultaneously:** If you are creating multiple tasks at the same time, using features like replace, blacklist, or whitelist, it may increase the workload for the bot, leading to potential delays.

👥 **Participating in Too Many Channels, Groups, or Chats:** If your bot is involved in too many chats, channels, or groups, particularly those with a large number of members, this can also increase processing time and result in message delays.

***

### **🛠️ How to Reduce Delays?**

To help reduce the chance of delays, consider the following:

📉 **Limit the Number of Tasks:** Reduce the number of simultaneous tasks, especially those involving replace, blacklist, or whitelist features, to decrease the bot's workload.

🗑️ **Delete unnecessary tasks, replace, blacklist, whitelist:** Remove any unnecessary tasks, replace operations, or blacklist/whitelist entries. This will help reduce the processing burden on the bot and minimize delays.

💬 **Minimize Channel/Group Involvement:** Try to reduce the number of channels, groups, or chats that the bot is participating in, particularly those with a high number of members.

🗑️ **Delete Unnecessary Channels/Groups/Chats**: Remove channels, groups, or chats that are not necessary. This helps to reduce the overall data load and makes the bot more efficient.

**We are constantly working on optimizing our system to minimize these delays and provide a more seamless experience for you.**

Sincerely

**AutoForward Team**

# Trick to Continuously Forward Multiple Messages on Telegram

🔄 **Trick to Continuously Forward Multiple Messages on Telegram** 🔄

🌟Telegram, a popular messaging platform, imposes limitations on forwarding multiple messages within a short period. When these limits are exceeded, forwarding activities are temporarily suspended. To address this issue and maintain seamless forwarding, we recommend using multiple Telegram accounts instead of relying on just one.

**🔍 Step-by-Step Guide:**

1️⃣ **Create Multiple Telegram Accounts**

👉 Register multiple Telegram accounts, one for each forwarding operation you require.

2️⃣ **Determine the Number of Messages and Chats to Forward**

👉 Calculate the total number of messages and groups chats you want to forward within a specific time frame.

3️⃣ **Divide the Forwarding Task Among Multiple Accounts**

👉 For instance, if you intend to forward to 100 groups chats, divide them among 5 Telegram accounts, with each account handling forward to 20 groups chats.

4️⃣ **Set Up Forwarding on Each Account**

👉 Configure the forwarding settings on each account to forward the desired chats.

5️⃣ **Manage and Monitor Forwarding Operations**

👉 Maintain a list of your Telegram accounts and the number of chats forwarded by each.

🚨 Important Note: Before implementing this trick, be aware that forwarding a large number of messages may violate Telegram's terms of service. It is essential to use this feature responsibly and within the platform's guidelines.

By following this approach, you can effectively overcome Telegram's forwarding limitations and maintain uninterrupted forwarding of messages across multiple accounts. Happy forwarding! 🚀📬
